Detailed abortion statistics

Under the 1975 Act that legalized induced abortion, practitioners are required to complete a notification form. These forms are distributed and collected by the Ministry of Health, and the data they contain are published and analysed by INED and INSERM.  This arrangement was confirmed by the 2001 amendment to the Act.
INED has published statistical yearbooks since 1976.
